Can I swap older IH frogs for newer IH frog?

A year or more ago I broke a share on my IH #15 Little Genius plow. It's a 3-bottom 14" with Chattanooga Plow Works bottoms. I've had no luck finding a new or used share to replace the broken one.

I got to thinking the other day that maybe I can swap out the entire bottom (frog, share, moldboard, etc.) for a newer one. The old CP frog uses three bolts to attach it to the beam.

Anybody know what bottoms are interchangable? Which plows should I look for? Parts numbers?

Many thanks.

If they are plowchief bottoms,Iknow for afact(dunit)that they will exchange with Super chief bottoms. They each use 3 5/8bolts to secure the frog to the beam Good luck.

All the bottoms interchange. You can look for any plow thats cheap I guess. Some of the early semi-mounts like a 540 could get you some Super Chief bottoms. Even Plow Chiefs would be an improvement over what you have.
14" moldboard part numbers:
Plow Chief: 515 710 R11
Plow Chief with replacement shin: 520 192 R11
Super Chief X-series: 462 313 R11
Super Chief G-series: 522 327 R11
Super Chief H-series: 522 328 R11

Thanks, Ploughman. That's a good list of part numbers for me to start looking for. What's the difference in the X, G, and H Super Chief series?

G is a stubble bottom, H is a general purpose bottom, and X is the high speed bottom. I think G and H were phased out and X then became the standard plow bottom.

x2!

While the 3 bottom is down for repairs, I've been using our 2x12" #8 Little Genius. It has old beat-up and welded over Plow Chief bottoms. I was worried that the Plow Chief bottoms would be fragile and easily break when faced with our stoney/rocky ground. In actuality, the Chattanooga bottoms proved to be fragile. So - yes, even Plow Chief bottoms would be an improvement.

Thanks again Ploughman.
