I am looking a buy a 2 row 3 point cultivator.

Is this only used for crops?

Or can I use it to prep for cover crop in my soon to be vineyard?

I would think the cultivator should only be used for crop cultivation.

Ferguson made a 3 pt (tiller) it had spring shanks that would give, about 7 or 9 shanks.

It was made for heavy breaking up of the soil. Would be a great tool for the orchard cultivation.

Now that all depends on what you want to do. Both Dearborn and Ferguson made a 2 row cultivator with spring shanks and they were designed to be able to be set as a field cultivator for working ground as well as cultivating crops but you had to have plowed and possibly disked first depending on the ground type. That machine the other poster mentioned is like a small size chisel plow and will in a lot of cases work in undisturbed soil but not all. What do you now have that you need to work up?
