Mr. lund I saw that you said you planted some oats the other day. Just wondering when farmers in your area, Mid Michigan if I remember right, plant corn most years. I'm in northern Mich and usally is a bit behind you down their. I'm gonna try my 1st small crop and read that the soil should be 50-55 degrees in the early morning. Also depends on the frost.

I don't get in any big hurry anymore. We used to think we had to have it in by the 10th of May,and some still think so I guess. It's been too darned cold and wet for the last decade or so for me to think about planting much before Mothers Day. Seems like planting any sooner than that on some of the better ground,we get a lot of seed rot or crusted cold ground and it doesn't come up. Up your way,I'm just guessing, probably between May 10 and 15? Probably got some sandier ground up there that's going to warm up pretty quick and not be too likely to crust over hard don't you?
