All I feed is round bales so I wantto sell this baler. It's a 310 NH with the kicker. Will recieve new paint and decals as soon as the weather is right. I have owned since '05 and the only time it has ever missed a knot or broken a twine was if the operator strung something wrong, or used 20 year old sisal. What ball park are these worth? Every dealer here has prices inflated so much, and the balers sit for years. I was thinking $2800, fair, too high, or too low, ya think?

Interesting that you should mention that!

I got the 570 from a JD dealer after the disgruntled first owner had traded for green! (knotter problems). When I got the 570, one knotter had been replaced. I use 7500 plastic twine, and have had no knotter problems!

I have had no problems with the 570, and really like it!

Some will say that a JD makes a better bale, while others say a NH does! I think that the operator controls the bale quality!

What model JD did you have?

Sold this 315 for $2,800.00 3 or 4 years ago. It had seen a lot of hay, and it had been ridden hard and put up wet! Got a 570 now.

I wouldn't spend anything on painting it. I won't pay for paint either. mabey that's just me... but I also want to see what it looked like before. Make sure it's clean and tidy but I think it's worth just as much in as is condition provided everything is functional.
I've seen too many dupont restorations where somebody shot new paint right over the dirt, hay, silage, etc that was left IN the bloody machine, then stuck it in a consignment sale. I've seen stuff sell for more than it was worth like that too... but most people I know want to see it in clean work clothes. Mabey touch up damaged spots or that type of thing but not new paint and decals.

Price... I think at 2800 it would be well paid for. I'm rather skeptical about paying a lot of money for an older machine. Mabey others will...
I'm more of the mindset to get something well worn for cheap and hten fix it myself so that I know what I have. Buying someone else's for big money is always an unknown at best.

Dave, your price is about right at least for the mid-west. At the age of these things quality is what counts. If someone wants a kicker, its a very good price if the kicker works well as you say. Not having seen it I don't think I'd paint before I priced it. As said if its weathered bad you can offer to paint it.....

just my opinion but i'd rather see the baler as is before buying...too many folks putting lipstick on pigs trying to hide stuff these days...you could always offer to paint it after sale or give buyer paint and decals.
