Ford 2000 and disc harrow

Just purchased a 1968 Ford 2000, 3 cyl gas, 2wd. Runs very well. Rear tires are not loaded with anything at this time. Still trying to decide on fluid or weights. "Everything Attachments" has a disc harrow that I've been thinking about getting. Its cut width is 6'10", it has 20 18" discs, and weighs 700 lbs. The ground type is silt/sandy loam.

Do you guys believe this tractor will be able to effectively pull this disc harrow or should I play it safe and go with a lighter/smaller disc?

Thank you for any input. Bill

my 62 2000 been pulling a 6.5' tandem disc since it was new in sand...you will need weight on tractor tho.

BCnT...That is encouraging to hear. The smaller model I was looking at is 125 lbs lighter at 575lbs vs 700 lbs. But the larger one is only about $70 more. I was hoping to go with the larger one to get more bang for my buck. But again, does me no good if the tractor struggles with the equipment. Thanks for the input.

I'm new to the sight, jsut registered actually. I now discovered there is a "ford" section. I may also post there to see what type of weight others are pulling.

Thanks again

If it helps you any, I bought a Massey Ferguson # 25 dics harrow that sounds about the size of yours. It came from a friend of mine who used a 1974 Ford 2000 3 cylinder gas tractor to pull it, tires are loaded. He used it for many years on sand for his truck farm and it worked fine. I now use them on my 1720 Ford compact tractor on clay and rock. It will pull it in 2wd, but most of the time I use 4wd. I also have loaded tires and a front end loader on it., So I think you will be alright on the silt sandy loam. Just get the tires loaded. J

I HAVE A 1973 FORD 2000 AND the same size disc you just mentioned my tires are filled but it pulls that disc with no problem at all it pulls a 2 bottom plow
