I have a small livestock operation (horses/cattle) and want to start making hay for my own uses. I want to bale round bales of around 600-800 lbs so that they are easy to move and store under cover. I have a 32hp tractor for moving them and access to a 70hp tractor for baling. I already have a Gehl 2175 MoCo that has been made avail. I am using 1500 lb rounds now but they can get a bit difficult to move around in the winter mud. With my light duty loader I could spear and stack smaller bales with ease. The 1500 lb bales are just too big to deal with for the most part, but that is all that I can buy locally (or larger). This year I will probably spend $1200 on hay for the 4 winter months. I have access to 35 acres for haying for almost nothing.
Can you folks offer any insights on the above listed balers? Which one would you choose and why. I have read all that I can find on these and they seem to be well liked but not much on head to head differences.
