Got it home...

Hey folks,
Sorry I couldn't take many pics of the trip. The way there was too foggy and the way back was just too tricky. Real nice area, just dreary today. 7 and a half hours on a road full of idiots. Cold, foggy, and windy from passing vehicles. Couple pics where I could swing it;

Halfway point leaving farmland and going into a state forest.

Other side of the forest and starting into grape country and the baler after I got it home.

Thats a nice looking baler. Now all you need to do is clean up the tractor or use the baler. Congrats. It looks like it was very well taken care of or hardly used.

Both. The guy said the last 15 years (that he had it) that he baled from 200-500 bales of straw one day a year. Always emptied, cleaned, and lubed as needed before shedding it. Been gonna clean and splash some paint on the tractor this weekend for a few years now :roll:

You have to remember you need a truck to pull it with and a lot of people do not have a truck including him.

Pretty scenery...nice baler too. I'd never heard of a Welger until you began posting about looking for balers over there. Looks like a fairly modern unit. That must have been a lonnng haul on the tractor, but hey, if you don't have a truck, you do what you gotta do!
Congrats on the purchase.

NICE looking baler! One drawback, how many on here have used one before? "Nein sprechen ze Deuche"( my apologies for the spelling). I hope you can get some "local" help if ya need it. Great pics!

Before I picked it up, I emailed Welger and they sent me the users manual in English. Hope I can keep it going.

Not that simple here.... Only thing you can pull machinery without a license plate on it is with a tractor that is licinsed and insured. Could have towed it on a trailer, but would have taken more time, hassle, and bucks than just doing the tractor ride. Had a Ford F250 4x but didn't have enough use yo justify the tax, insurance, and high price of fuel (had to buy German gas @ 10 bucks a gallon and the driving I did with it wasn't very economical.

Thats unfortunate. I've towed balers at 45 mph with a truck, makes for short trips. Your tractors have to be licensed and insured?? That would might expensive for us with multiple tractors.

Just brought a NH 311 home from VT, about 75 miles from home. Added a set of magnetic trailer lights, hooked it up to the F-350 and drove home. Average max speed of about 40 mph. Did hit 55 on the I-91 Interstate - only about 3 miles of that. :) Took a little over two hours...
