Can you determine the year of a JD 24T baler by the serial number tag? I assumed you could; I just don't know how. The tag is stamped "24T" above the words "MODEL" and "20782" above the words "SER.NO." Please, learn-ed person; impart some knowledge on me? Thanks in advance.

Deere never had a serial/year cross reference for pull type implements of that vintage, only for self propelled machines like tractors and combines. The 24T production was started in 1962 and I believe ended in early 70"s and was replaced by the 336 baler, but I can"t remember the exact year. There were serial number breaks in the parts book ranging from 2425 to 46900. I would hazard a guess your baler is probably a 1966,67,or 68 vintage, but that is just a guess.
