Case IH 8430 Round Bailer....HELP....

I have a friend with an 8340 Case IH round bailer and the hay keeps getting wrapped around the rollers and plugging it. Anyone have any idea what the problem is? He has even had the Case IH man there without any answers??? Is this thing just a lemon??? Help... Dandy Dave!

I have a Hesston 5530, which is the same baler, only narrower. I have only had this happen with wet hay, or second cutting hay that is real short and dry. I replaced belts a couple of years ago, went to a different surface on the belt, old ones were pretty smooth. No problems with wrapping on the rollers since, but I did wrap the reel up good this summer on too wet sorghum/sudan grass. If you want to talk belts, try Hamilton Equip, Fawnsdale, Ala He had the best price, when I did mine.

I had a feeling that my friend, the organic farmer, was trying to rush things. The belts on the bailer have the cheveron tread so I do not think that is the problem. This has been a very bad year to make hay back here in the east with all the rain we have had. Thanks, Dandy Dave!
