214WS leaving small piece of wire

As I was baling this past week I noticed that the 214WS is leaving a small horse shoe piece of wire after twisting, laying on top of the bale..........also the twist and remaining piece of wire is about 4 inches long......seems long to me but maybe this is what it does...........but what gives with that piece of wire being left behind?

Not a good thing. Animals eat it and will get hardware disease. Sorry, I can't tell you how to fix it.

That is why around here you can't even give away the hay baled by a wire tie baler because of animals eating it. No way to get around it except possibly find a very strong magnet that you can mount across the top of bale chamber and hope it will pick up the pieces.

Roger & I both want to know if it's leaving wire on both sides. IIRC the owners manual addresses this issue but I don't have one.

Where are tips of twister hooks when in home position? Are they pointing in a rearward position? How close are needles to wire in wire guides when needles are in home position?

It's possible to insert a magnet inside stomach of cows. Some dairymen do that but mostly because of feed rations containing metal pieces..

Not sure about both sides as I have just seen the pieces laying on the base area of the twister area...............

the tips of twister hooks are in proper alignemnt according to the manual..........

I will check everything again and re adjust if needed..........the one thing I have not checked I guess is the needle position to wire when in home position........will check that and adjust according to manual tonight........won't be baling again till alfalfa gets ready again.......

I am not worried about my animals as my sheep will filet out these pieces if they are in with them...........around here it is rare to see a twine baler and if you put up straw it better be in wire or nobody will buy it............grew up with wire and will probably die with a wire baler...........just the way it is around these parts too.....

thank you..
