Hi All. I bought a brand new Goodyear Duratorque 13.6-38 tire uninstalled for $371. Good or bad deal? A Chineese tube (UUF-DUH!) for $52. OK deal I think. I got two free rims ( one might not be usable ) with two old unusable tires mounted. I'm getting one sandblasted, primed and epoxy painted (Tnemec epoxy) for free. Great deal! Downside is it's only a 10" rim. The other rim still on the tractor is a 12". I'm doing the dismounting and mounting with the help of a generous neighbor. Backbreaking deal!

One question- Most of the rims I see these days on letter series tractors are the double stepped drop center type. My tractor has the single drop center type. The parts books I have show the single drop center. Does it make any difference? The double drop center are the number series tractor originals I guess. Thanks for any insight on this. ...Randy

The double drop I think is for the newer number series tractors like the 460

You got a cheap tire for about what it's worth. By the sound of things I gather it's not likely to wear out before it rots out, so the cheap one will do just as well as the expensive one...

One thing you might want to measure is the wheels tho. If you're using your old centers meant for a double drop and installing a single drop on them, I think you will have a problem... so check that before you invest a lot of time in it.
Also keep in mind that due to different wheel widths, each tire will have a slightly different profile when mounted. The tread may want to roll inwards somewhat on the narrow wheel. It may look a little odd and it may pull a bit less. Probably not a big thing unless you're very particular about such things...

I think he has the single drop type now that he needs to replace on a Farmall M and the wheels he got were for a Farmal H

Hi Leroy . That I do, Have the single drop that is. It's sandblasted and epoxied. I painted it silver tonight. Tomorrow afternoon I'll mount it all together and get it on the tractor. Only 11 months since it went flat to begin with. It's been setting on blocks that long. Was going to use it to plow this weekend but it's rained all evening so I don't think that'll be happening. I'll be plowing as much of 185 acres this year as I can for a neighbor. I'll just make a few rounds with my old plows and use his 44?? with a IH 720 auto-reset 6-20" plow for the majority of it when he's not plowing himself. I could sure use the extra cash since my wife lost her job last fall along with our only insurance. ...Randy

Regardless, if he's switching from one drop to the other, the center will likely be a different size (diameter), so it needs some carefull checking...

Not switching, It's what is already on it, just not wide enough. It's temporary I hope. Besides ..I liked the price! ...Randy
