Ford 515 sickle bar mower

Have a chance to pick one up dirt cheap, (under $200). Will this work on my 2N? haven't seen it yet but it issupposed to be in working condition.

Dont know why it woodnt. Hooks all most same way 501 does and they used them on N series.

Don't you need remote hyds on a 515?

I would think so. We had a Ford mower and it fit the TE20 all the way up to a Ford 800.

Isen't the 515 the pitmanless version of the 501 mower?

That's a good description for a 515- a belt drive (pitmanless) 501.

I still use my 515 for cutting hay. Should work on 2N if you have a drawbar that can be moved to the right and a working 3-pt. If you buy it make sure it has the bracket that has a link to attach the big release spring to the lower right 3-pt arm. Also make sure you get the chain with the smaller spring at end that attaches to the hole in drawbar. I'd also make sure main bearing is OK & lubed by removing rounded cover plate and take a look (not at home now but I think they're 9/16 or 5/8 bolts). You can still get an operators manual from New Holland. A good mower. I can post pics later if needed. Good Luck
