3 pt post hole digger

I have been looking around for a 3pt post hole digger. Can purchase new Leinbach with one auger for a bit over 500. TSC may be same and is about same price. I've seen a couple used Ford/Dearborn 22-59 models for 300-400 range or Bush Hog 500+ range. I'm not a fan of new off brands but finding a good old one can be a crapshoot. Are the 22-59's a decent digger for 150 less than a new cheapie? Any advantages with the newer ones that wasn't available with the oldies?
Your opinions will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
TP

We have a Leinbach that was purchased new and it has been a good unit for us. We don't have much in the way of rocks to deal with though. Just a tree root here and there.

How many holes you digging? If you're serious, get one with a hydraulic motor. If you're just fooling around, any of 'em will probably do. Way back when, the Ford diggers (don't remember model numbers) were considered the 'cadillac' of diggers.

if you don't have down pressure on you 3ph, you may consider going with the heavier model you're looking at, usually the older one.

i welded some arms on my digger and found some weights to slide on and off of them as needed. i stored mine from a rafter and it made it real ease to hook up. i always store all my drive shafts inside. things are geting so tight and so many drug addicts around that i don't leave anything laying around any more. i had some gas stored for emergerncy use under my car port and somebody got 8 gallons of it. i think a little more gas and a special additive like sugar will put a stop to that.
