I found a line of implements last week and wanted to see if these sound good to anyone. i was looking for Dearborn stuff but found Ferguson.

I already bought the dearborn rigid shank cultivator but there is still the following for sale:

2-14 ferguson plow with the furrow wheel broken off and broken moldboard.

Stockland push/pull dirt scoop

Ferguson A-BO-22 3pt. disk

All of these have been sitting out and are rusted up quite a bit. The coulters on the plow will not move or swivel, etc...you can imagine the rest...these are "fence row" implements.

my question is if I can get these cheap, can I find parts like the furrow wheel/moldboard for the plow and bushings for the disk? I know some the old ferguson disks had wooden bushings that are hard to find. When I say cheap I mean about 200 bucks for the whole works.

Thanks

The ones that say the disks would not cut well are wanting to use them for something they were not made to do and that is to work as a primary tillage tool in ground with a cover of some kind. They are a finnishing disk for using after plowing to get the ground broke up and trash covered. You could not find a mounted disk that size that would do what they are thinking that disk the Ferguson should do that you could lift with a tractor the size they were made for in the TO-30 29HP tractor for the 7 blade on a size model. In bare ground they should work good, like following beans, but they want to do in one pass what they were designed to do in 3 passes.

Plow is worth little with broken tailwheel and broken mowboard. I agree those ferguson disks dont cut well but lots of folks are looking for a cheap 3 point disk for food plots. I sold an old ferguson on ebay that needed work for over $200. Bill

I also have an A-BO-22, and it is a good disk, but some of the parts are hard to get. The lower bearing halves are available, but I have not been able to purchase the upper bearings. The earliest models had wood bearings, but most have the cast iron bearings.

The plow is questionable if worth it, if you do try to find bottoms for a blade type share and change both bottoms, Massey Ferguson bottoms will fit. The scoop if push-pull is a newer scoop as the older ones are only pull, not reversable and that should not be too hard to get working. The disk is the most valubable piece there and if it has wood bearings a good woodworker can make them for you and use a hard maple to make them out of and before you install then take a buket of warn oil and put them in and leave them soak for a month and then the wood will be compeletly saturated and any grease will last a lot longer when you grease the bearings. DO NOT use oak as it will not absorb the oil and will not hold the grease to the bearing, the factorys used hard maple. That disc should be an adjustable angle gaung and that would make it worth twice what any new mounted disc would cost for that size and do a lot better work. And you will need blades and get an 18 guage blade in 18" diameter

The parts are mostly available from several sources. But you will want to get the equipment cheap. No one part is all that expensive, but tally them all up and it can bring on a serious case of sticker shock.

I am thinking this a great.."can't pass up deal" ...but if parts are hard to come by it might be best to let them sit. It is very hard to find these in my part of the country..scrap iron has been high and weekend farmers have gobbled these type of implements up.

I hauled some scrap iron to the yard and seen three two bottom plows on the pile last fall and the yard owmer would not even talk to me about them...

Thanks, I appreciate your help

The three point disk is to light to do any work. So I don't think its a bargain at any price.

What you describe would bring maybe $25 as scrap and that's what the pile is worth.
