I am trying to restore an old wood frame peg tooth harrow. I am missing two clevises that attach the frames to the draw beam. Cast in them is the name Keller. Was there a Keller brand harrow or is that just the name of the foundry which made the clevis? I am trying to determine which brand this is. Anyone have any literature on wood framed peg tooth harrows? Anyone have any clevises? They have about a 2.25 to 2.375 inch c shaped (square corner) opening with a pin that threads into it (like a lifting clevis) and then has a hook with ring in it to prevent its accidental disconnecting. I can provide a picture.

Thanks,

Ill look around home for some teeth. I keep picking them up around an old building site. If I find some I'll post back on this site.

if your leaving stuff like this out side treat it with boiled linseed oil. it will remain sticky for years, but the wood want absorb any more water. brush it onand allow it to run down around each joint and peg. you can thin it with terpentine to make it easier to work with and flow better on to rough wood.

I cannot help you with your question, but am curious as to what kind of wood you are using and how you are having it cut to size as I want to also restore one.

I found a place which will cut green white oak for 1.25 a board foot. I just need to provide the cross section dimensions and how long I need my pieces. I am looking at using 1/2" square 1045 Cold drawn bar stock for the spikes. I prefer to use a higher carbon for better wear, but this is easier to get (almost). I am looking to source this from Castle Metals in Chicago. They will ups it in 60" lengths.

Thanks. I replaced the wood in mine about 25 years ago with oak and it is shot again. Of course the reason is because of storing it outside. Looking back on my wood replacement, it would look nicer if you could cut it a little oversize and then plane it down smoother. What about using old railroad spikes or are they too short? I still have almost all of my spikes.
