Most had the steel rims cut off and rim for rubber put on in the 50's and a 6:00 X 15" was the likely size but it could also have had a 6:70 X 15" also used as they were as close to the orignal steel wheel as possible. Depending n what junker car was setting around they might have used a 5:50 X 17" as well.

I'm no help, for sure. I have an original manual for a No. 51 and No. 52 plow, and there is no mention of rubber tires.

Stan , I'm not too sure the 52 ever came with rubber! It was an option on the later #4 plows , but I bet this 52 was fitted with rubber after the fact.

I took a look at the manual I mentioned, and it does ideed mention 24" wheels and 4" tires. No mention of anything like tire size other than that. I wonder if they were just a hard rubber cover on the wheel?

I agree with you. We had a No. 51 plow that we got in 1943 and a No. 52 that we got in about 1947...neither had rubber tires.

dds,

Thanks for that info...I guess I'll have to change my thoughts about rubber tires on those plows.
