The 411 uses a common-sump gearbed. A complete bar can be sourced directly from a Kuhn dealer (it is a Kuhn built bar) probably cheaper than from New Holland.

I don't have that info here. I work at a dealership that handles both Kuhn and NH, and I know I have seen crossover info listed for bars Kuhn has supplied to other manufacturers over the years. New Holland parts sourced from Kuhn often come with Kuhn paint and VALID Kuhn part number stickers.

I'm sure the number i saw was valid, I think the customer service was lacking that day. I wish the dealer with better attitude handled kuhn. I could probably find that sticker if i dug for it, but then i'd have to clean! ;)

Don't feel too bad. I'e got a dealer here that's something like that.... I tend to think they're just not very inclined to bother doing any research on the subject even if they could see 100k in parts if they knew the answers. Mine is the aforementioned 1460 Deere. I get some prety vauge answers from the Kuhn dealer...

we're waiting to see, but i'm sure it will just be a couple gears, so an assembly shouldn't be needed. The other local new holland dealer also comes up as a kuhn dealer online but will not do a cross-manufacturer lookup, and does not stock any kuhn hay equipment that i've ever seen. one time a rock guard from new holland came with a kuhn sticker on it with a number, and they coudn't/wouldn't find that as a good kuhn number.

The other dealer repairing the 411 has been very good to us. they just don't have the kuhn line, or as many resources ($ too) as the bigger one.

If we had a shop or garage or any shelter and a few more tools and jacks, i would have attempted the repair. My dad and uncle said they didn't understand how it even works so didnt want to touch it. At least i don't have to drive 20 miles every night after work to scramble to beat sundown fixing it this way.
