Bucket forks?

I have a loader bucket on my John Deere 3020, although I don't think it is a John Deere Bucket (the paint is blue under the green). On the bottom of the bucket there are a bunch of spikes bolted in the forward direction but they are tucked under the bucket so they don't seem to do anything. I would like to use my bucket for hay bales. Are these spikes
usuable for this and how would you mount them.

are these "spikes" about a foot long and about 8" apart? if they are its probally a manure fork and not strong enuff for round bales...i run a bolt in spear in bucket of my Mahindra 6000...any indy tractor dealer should have new ones or if youre handy with a torch/welding machine you can build one in a afternoon.

The top metal plate of your bucket is removable, and those spikes are the manure fork, to remove manure pack (manure & straw) from the barn.

The spikes are not long enough, probably not sharp enough, and so forth to use for stabbing round bales.

Personally I prefer a spike set up that replaces the bucket. It keeps the balance better on the tractor. Gotta back up a hill to get out of where we store the hay. The closer to the tractor the bale is the more weight on the rear wheels when it is wet.

Our spike is a commercial unit that can either replace the bucket or use with 3 point hitch. I think Southern States and Tractor Supply carries a similar model.

Wouldn't be hard to make, but with the cost of steel now the prices will be close especially when you factor in your time.
