Case IH gathering belts

We'd had a discussion on here back in February about those Case IH forage harvester gathering belts being $1100 now. I just got home from an auction. I bought a nice clean little 781 with a corn head for $500 and an 881 with a hay head, wide row and narrow row corn heads for $600. For the price of one new belt, I should have enough belts and other parts to keep one going for the rest of my farming days.

I kind of had to laugh when I went back to get the 881 yesterday. The owner had bid against me on the other 881 that I already have. I mentioned having one and he said ''Ya, you bought it over to Trufant''. He told me he had paid $500 for one of the corn heads just to get the gathering belts.

I was talking to one of the local Mannonites while I was there. He said he had two or three of those belts hanging up brand new and I could have them if I wanted them. He wasn't sure if they'd fit or not. He said he'd had a three row too, and that they used two different sized belts, so the ones he has might be for that.
