I need replace the seal on the shaft that goes to the engine, looks like a straight forward job to pull the gearbox. I was told that there was enough give in the hydro lines that I didn t to remove them just pull it back out of the way and and hang it from the unloading auger, will this work? TIA

So Im going to tell you something that no one told me
when I did mine. If that seal is out you have to also
replace the shaft and bushing inside the flywheel.
Otherwise youll be doing it all over again. When running
you probably feel an ever so small vibration. Thats
because the bushing and shaft have worn egg-shaped
and thus taken out the seal. The seal itself is the
smallest cheapest seal ever. If I do it again, Im going to
double up that seal. The good mechanics know this but
never tell anyone till you pull the gearbox the second
time.

Just take it completely off and work on it on the ground. You ll want to replace the other seals at the same time. Including the rear crankshaft seal on the engine. Splines will probably be worn on the input shaft and inside the hub of the torsional dampener. It s never just one seal

First, what Nedd said about replacing the shaft and bushing inside the flywheel is correct.

The job is pretty straight forward but you are working with some heavy stuff, we used a payloader to set it
on the ground to make it easier to work on.
