Will IH 843 head fit CIH 1666 combine?

Hello all,

Wondering if my old 843 cornhead and 810 grain platform would fit a Case IH 1666 non hillside combine. Currently using them on an old 815 but it's costing me annually in parts to keep this machine in the field what I could instead spend to have my grain custom harvested so I think its time to move on. Currently have a choice of a JD 6620, 6620 hillside, or a CIH 1666. Both Deeres have heads but the 1666 does not and is more expensive than either JD. I'd like to use my old heads for a year or two while I look for newer ones and thus offset part of the initial expense. Has anyone here done this? Thanks,

Pete

I know the 843 head will work. If
the combine is too wide, you can
reverse the front wheels to a
narrowed position to help eliminate
running down the next standing corn
row. The ladder will probably also
have to be run in the raised
position. We ran a 864 head on a
2344 combine for a good while before
changing to 30 inch rows. We had no
problems with the combo. The 810
will also fit as the feederhouse
width remains the same until the end
of the 25xx production run. The 16xx
series forward have a electric
connection for automatic header
height control for the grain table.
I'm not sure if and how this will
effect you on the 810 as we skipped
the older model heads when we got
the 1640 machine, and have had 1020
model tables.

Yes the 843 head will hookup to the feeder house on the 1666. You need to be sure you have the correct tires and no axle extensions on the 1666 so it will be narrow enough not to knock down the standing rows next to the tires.
