Looking at a 2166 just wondering about the rock trap. How important are they. And can they be added

Can be added but need extensions for the lift cylinders and the drive belts for the head need to be longer. Probably not necessary if rocks are not a problem on your land.

Did you get rocks into cylinder on conventional combine? Mainly for soybean floating head a 2" dam behind sickle and lowering feeder drum helps but isn't 100% .Straightening stationary fins is difficult.

If you have many rocks on your farm they are very important. Unless you have one spotted without a rock trap that was just used on Sunday by a little old lady, I would look for one that has it. That was a fairly popular model and you should be able to find one.
