Was there a John Deere Model 12 Combine

I grew up riding a John Deere Model 12-A combine with a sacking platform in place of the grain bin. After reading a thread on here about the JD Model 11, I was wondering if they ever built a Model 12? I never knew what the 'A' meant.

Thanks,
Garry

The A signifies an update to an original model. Other
examples include the FB(-A and -B) grain drills, 350(-A) hay
rake and the 1210(-A) grain cart.
The 31 post hole digger went to an even higher level, A, B
and C.

There was a model 15 and a 16A flail chopper. Was there ever a model 16? I don't think I ever saw one. The 15 had the flails bolted on individually where the 16A had a rod running through them.

The flails for a 15 had the flails on a rod and the 10 had them individually bolted on, For the 10 they were not reversable but for the 15 they were. I had a 10 for years. The 10 and the 15 were 5 foot cut, the 16A was a 6 foot cut. I have the parts manuals around someplace for all from the 10 to 16A.

Must have been a 15A that had a rod wasn't it? The first one we had was a 15. Those were bolted. I remember hitting a stone one time and knocking the bars off that one flail was bolted to and we had to weld them back on.

It should be noted the the 12, 11, and 10 were only produced one year before becoming the 12A, !!A, and 10A. I think 1939, but could have been '38 and '39 was the first of the A series?

The A series was introduced in 39' for the the 1940 season. However, JD only made five 10As and the Harvester works kept them all. The 11A continued until 1944.

Thank You for the replies. That clears it up. I think that I know where the manual for the 12-A is and am thinking that covers the 11-A too.
