K2 Electrical Issue

During the winter/spring i am trying to get a few things done to my Gleaner K2, one thing i haven't figured out is when i turn the key switch off
everything in the cab stays on, so i have to remove the negative battery cable and everything stays off until i turn the switch back on/start the
machine. Neighbor said it sounded like a bad relay so i replaced the relay on the console door but its still doing it, key switch maybe???

I would GUESS that there's a wire in the wrong place somewhere that "feeds back" power from the load side of the relay to the small relay coil terminal causing it to act like a "latching relay", staying engaged once it's switched on.

Is there more than one wire on the coil terminal on the relay?

Can you trace the wire from the solenoid coil to the key switch, it MAY be on the wrong terminal or a wire that's not supposed to be there MAY be sharing the terminal on the switch?

Do you have a wiring diagram to compare the wiring on yours to?

I do have a diagram in the ops manual, the key switch has the correct wires going to it, i'll have to check the relay again, the left terminal on the
relay had a red wire, i remember seeing a green wire, and maybe a blue one. I'll have to look again to be sure, i do remember the relay had a black
ground wire going between it and the console door, if it wasn't getting a good ground could that be the problem?

It would be hard to trace the wire due to a wrapped up harness, it doesn't look like anyone has butchered the wiring any, thank goodness!!

(quoted from post at 19:16:08 12/16/21) would take a look at the alterator back feeding the system a diode might have failed

That's a good idea, I ASSUME it's a Delco 12SI or 15SI?

If so, a quick test would be to pull the 2 or three terminal plug from the alternator while it's running, and see if that makes any difference with the relay "dropping out" at engine shutdown.

(Do NOT disconnect the alternator's large output wire!)

Didn't you mention some other problem starting it, or was that somebody else? Sure sounds like a problem with the switch to me. Even more so if that was you that was having a starting problem.
