John Deere 7720 Separator Belt

Replaced the triple banded separator belt on the main engine output shaft, and am trying to adjust the gauge against the spring on the engagement mechanism. The washer is 2 spring coils down from the washer. I've moved the turnbuckle an inch each way from where it was and the gauge doesn't move. What am I doing wrong? Which direction do I go to raise the gauge, but why hasn't it moved?

Run the machine between adjustments, then re-check.

Thanks for the reply. The tightener feels too tight engaging, with the new belts. Would I let the turnbuckle out to loosen tension? BTW, new
belts don't have that quality look, say Made in Mexico. Not what I'd expect from Deere. Hope they last as long as the last set.
