Case 660 Combine questions

Hey all,

new member here but I've been watching the forums here for a while to answer all my old tractor questions.

I recently picked up a Case 660 Gas combine (S/N 8367341). its been sitting idle for about 20 years inside which still didn't prevent the racoons from making it their own personal Ritz Carlton.

I got it running the other day on the original points as I got tired of running 30 minutes round trip to the nearest thing that resembled an auto parts store near one of our old family farms.

Now I'd like to drive this machine 20 miles or so back to my farm and shop, but want to make sure its ignition system is going to remain reliable. I'm out of town on work this week and trying to order an electronic ignition conversion kit for it. I'm hoping someone on the forum can point me in the right direction where to start, as it seems these units were the only Case equipment to get the 201 gas engine.

I have a Case 310C that the previous owner converted to electronic ignition, but before I tear parts off a running machine, I'd rather order another set so I can run both. Any suggestions?

Also, if any one has any tips or things I should look for or update on this unit, I would be glad to hear it. I'm reviving an old family farm/orchard that has been primarily fruit crops so I'm relatively new to this side of farming.

Thanks!

Run the original points and condenser. If it runs around the yard it will run down the road. Have JI Case 1660 and 1665 combines that have
the same points in them for at least 20+ years.

(quoted from post at 17:39:08 09/14/21) Points? What about the tires?

the front tires are still in really great shape, the rears are pretty dry rotted, even though they hold air, I have some new tires to throw on. Thanks for your concern though

Update: It made the trek home with no problems. definitely did not set any land speed records but that's the least of my issues. Currently trying to track down some new or used parts, mainly the straw racks if anyone knows of a machine thats getting parted out.

i contacted Black Creek/all states Ag and they claim to have no such units across their network.
