case 960 variable drive

Neighbors have a 960 that the variable speed drive sheaves will not move , does it have a slave cylinder that works with the lever or where do they look to find the problem , thanks Joe

Cylinder for the drive is on the passenger side of the combine. The cylinder is only one way. The cylinder draws the sheaves together on the drive pulley. the coil spring on the clutch shaft forces those sheaves together and separates the drive sheaves. The clutch pulley has a grease zerk on the back side on the shaft, if the inner sheave is stuck on the shaft it will not cause the cylinder to collapse. Put a pry bar in the driven pulley and see if you can spread it.
