MF 750 Hydro, vibration from traction drive pulleys??

It comes and goes, I've tightened the double spring, seemed to help a while. Belt heats up and pulleys do too. The top belt started rubbing on the nuts from the thresher engagement pulley. Do I need to pull out that big double pulley to check for bad bearings? I've had the top belt off, nice and quiet. Don't know how that 140 pod bean got in there. Also have the fingers and shaft out of the head auger, is there a trick to get it back in, those half moon keys are a bear!

Make sure all braces that stabilize the idler sheave pivot point are intact, as well as the "arms" that support the idler.

If OK, check for debris buildup inside the sheaves causing an out of balance condition.

Loosen the belts, if the idler sheave bearings seem OK I'd suspect a "bad" belt. NOT uncommon, IMHO.

Please post back with details as you move forward with this!

(quoted from post at 06:46:24 09/29/20) Thanks, I'll look into those.

Thinking about this overnight, the 760 I used to have had a similar problem and there was a piece cracked in the hinged arm that supports the sheave or the bracket that bolts to the body of the combine.

I don't remember why we didn't just weld it, but we got the complete assembly off of a junked machine and replaced it.

Thanks for that heads up too. Have you
ever worked on the platform auger fingers?
Can you put the shaft, holders, and cranks
in partially assembled? Those half moon
keys are tough to get to through the
access holes.

It's been 30 years since I had to work on a retractable auger finger mechanism and I don't recall it being impossible, just annoying and time consuming, wish I could remember the exact details, sorry!

(Talk about FUN, some years before I had the Massey I tore up the finger mechanism in my 503 IH by running a tree branch in it while I had my right hand bandaged with a lost fingertip and two more hurt fingers, had to do it more or less left handed, and with mostly one hand!)

It will be interesting to hear what you figure out with the vibration.
