I have a young neighbor that wants me to haul a F2 gleaner he has bought. It is 130 miles away. My trailer without extra boards is 8 ft 6 inches wide. Does anyone know how much tire I would have sitting on the low boy. His only comments was is it has big wide tires that are almost out to the edge of a 4 row corn header. Says it is 11 ft 4 in high so has to be on our lowboy.
 
X2 drive it home....drove my F2 home with a 13 foot head on it, about 100 miles years ago. Just bring along a set of ear protectors....

I suggested that but he is scared , says combines do not have the best brakes and header is 10 ft wide. We do a lot of heavy machinery hauling but hate to tie up a 9 axle low boy for a little job like this. He is a young neighbor and I just feel comped to help him. I.ll just take some widening boards and fold out the brackets then I know it will fit.
 
If the tires are out to the edge of a four row corn head, if it is a narrow row (30" or less) that would tell me it's in the neighborhood of 10 foot wide. Wide tires would assume 23.1 tire size, roughly 2' wide tire. Subtract 4' from 10' gives 6' so 8'6" wide trailer would tell me about 15" of drive tire on trailer or just over half a tire. Question would be: how wide are the steer tires set? would they be on, half on, or off the trailer?

I can't remember how they had the JD 4420 combine we got several years ago on the drop deck/detach, but that's how it was hauled in. Had all the headers (corn and 216F platform) on it too. And it is probably a tad wider across the tires. I sort of think he had blocks under the axles so when he picked up the deck the wheels of the combine were off the ground? I don't remember any slideouts for deck width. Hope this helps some. Paul
 
We hauled a K2 with 16.9 tires two months ago. It was exactly 96 inches from outside to outside on the tires. We didn't use the low boy. The trailer was 104 inches wide and 38 inches high. We let the air out of the drive tires and with them flat, they were right at the edge of the deck. The height was good, we were right at about 13 feet. We had a three row head on it and we were alright for width. The K2 and F2 are basically the same machine, the F is just a wider body. I don't know though if the wheel tread is wider or not. It was a real puckering moment driving that K on and off with a few extra inches on each side, I sure wouldn't want to do it with the edge of the tires hanging off.
 
I’ve owned an F, F2, F2, and F3.

They all had slightly different dished rims and got wider tires as they went. So hate to say a specific width, as it did change over time and as options. The F3 looks like a beast and carried so much better in mud than the F, it was like 2 different machines....

I can measure an F2 and the F3 if I think of it later, not there right now.

Our F2 has 28L/26's on it for drives, easily 10' wheel tread. I can't imagine "roading" a combine a 100 miles :-(
 
Sorry for the time....

Mine fit through a 11 foot 4 door with a little to spare, there is a flange on top that folds down fairly easy. Unless it was modified and built up, which is common.... but maybe you can gain a little if need be.

Width, my wide one is 10 foot 6 inches to the outsides of the front tires. The tires are eyeballed 2 feet wide, that includes the bulge on the sides.

The narrower one is 109 inches outside of tire to outside of tire, those tires are a little narrower as well as I think the dish is a little narrower too.

Im carrying the numbers in my head, sorry for the feet on one and inches on the other, but I’d rather be accurate than screw up the math......

I would expect an F2 to be more like my narrower stance one.
 
Took our detach low boy, had half of the tire off the 102 wide trailer. This machine has sat OUTSIDE for 6 years, b ut before that was absolutely perfect. Has the big back and the late 4 cylinder engine. Will take some freeing up but the boy paid me more to move it that he gave for the machine, He paid the guy $700.00 for the combine. .
 
Glad you got it home for him. The price was right. They're a treat to load and unload. The guy who hauled mine said he was sure glad I went with him and drove it on because he sure didn't want to do it.
