Bad bearing gathering chain on MF ???

After loosening the set screw on the drive
sprocket is hex shaft ready to slide?
Wire brushed, oiled. I take it years of
wear at bearings and beveled gears are
keeping it tight. Any pointers?Thanks.

Sometimes those hex shafts will slide by hand and others can't be moved with a big hammer. Soak it down good at each set of gears an good luck. Just worked on one last week, the bearing went out and broke the shaft, had to cut a new piece of shaft and use a coupler to reconnect it.

Cut it and get a coupler......you will be a much happier man.

Is there a set screw to loosen #12 13?
what stops the shaft from sliding when rolling, or is it just the constant force that prevents it? guys say cut, but wouldn't you need several cuts?

I just looked and see that's screw is for the top sprocket
