Jd 4400 injector line leak

Hi guys. I have a jd 4400 diesel combine with a leak at the
fitting where the injector supply line connects to the injector. It
is the 3rd injector from the cab. It has a drip about every 10
seconds. Before I try to tighten it a little I thought I would ask
what are the chances tightening it will help? Harvest will start
soon and I don?t want to break something and have a mess. I
can live with a leaky line for now. Is there a rubber o-ring in
there or something else? Just thought I would ask someone
who might know more before I look into it. Thanks for your
help.

NO harm in making sure it's TIGHT.

There's no replaceable parts or an O-ring in there, just a steel ferrule over a steel line.

They have to be TIGHT to seal.

If TIGHT and not sealing, likely the line is cracked next to the ferrule and will have to be replaced. (Common.)

Start it up and loosen it a little then tighten it back up once or twice and see if that stops if . You really don?t want fuel leaking in the engine compartment on a combine it?s gets dam hot under there

Make sure you do not feel around for the leak with a finger when the engine is running. You may have fuel injected under your skin.

Thanks guys. I got home from work and snugged things up and that seemed to stop the leak. I ran it for 20 minutes and it didn?t leak. Let?s hope it didn?t mask a cracked line. I wonder if John Deere would still carry something like that. Thanks again.
