55/95 raddled chain speed

I used the faster sprocket in a 105 when I had a six row corn head on it. The raddle chain couldnt handle the load using the slow sprocket when I was in high yielding trashy corn. I forget the number of teeth but I do remember there was two choices in sprocket sizes.

The only reasoning I can think of for the slower speed is the chain and upper and lower bearings will wear longer if it goes around fewer times every minute.
