The niinth day of wheat Harvest

A couple of pics of wheat harvest in central Kansas. Yesterday, July 4th was the ninth straight day of harvesting. Exceptional yields, probably averaging in the 70's (BPA) with some in the 90's. Wheat has been dry, good test weight and good protein content. Probably have about 3 days of harvest left. Others in the region haven't been so fortunate. One 5 year old died in accident, shed with combine, tractor burned, deluge of rain (8+ inches).

Brought back memories from mid 60s. Used to run wheat harvest with 403 IHs with 14 foot headers and no cab. We did not know any thing else.

I have heard yields are good in parts of Kansas. A fella I know who was cutting north of Lakin reported 80 bushel dryland wheat.
