Hi,

Can anyone tell me if this is a good combine, common problems and anything to look for when buying one?

Also, does anyone know the dimensions height, width, length?

Thanks

Dad had one and I ran gleaners. I absolutely hated that 715 the offset cab , late in the evening when the sun was going down and bean dust flying you could not see the right end of the header. Thing did a decent job and he never had a lot of trouble but like I said the offset cab makes you have to cut one way going around the edge of the field .

JI Case combines had a off-set cab. Put a lot of acres thru mine...never figured the cab position was a hindrance.

Try it with a 30 or 36ft header. You can see both ends of the header alright up to about 18ft but any bigger it?s a PITA in my opinion. I?ve put many acres through combines with offset cabs mostly JD 00/20 series. And I got along just fine too until I started running combines with center cabs. Then I didn?t want to go back. I even find it kind of annoying having to set off to the side on my little antique combines which includes a Case 600.

no problem at all with my 20" hdr, ran a 760MF with a 24' for years custom cutting no problem there either also ran a 8820 JD with a 30' header again no problems I cut thousands of acres with a number of brands

I didn?t say it was a problem just annoying. Especially when cutting south with the sun setting in the west in dusty conditions and you can?t see the right side of the header. Picking up swaths is annoying too because your instinct is to drive right down the swath. I?ve never know anybody that ran offset combines that upgraded to centered cab combines wishing they could set off to the side again. We ran Massey?s from the beginning of time and then later on JD. We actually traded off our fairly new T2 8820 for a used 9600 just to sit in the center. Even JD realized they made a mistake because they started development work on the 94/95/9600 series as the 20 series hit the market and the first decision they made was to put the cab back in the center. They had it right back in 1947. Just saying.

For the little amount, I am going to use it right now an offset cab is not really a problem for me.
Has anyone transported one of these? The one I am looking at is 100 miles away.
Has anyone ever run one of these on hills? Are they any good on hills?
The one I am looking at has a 17 ft header.

Thanks in advance for any information you can give me.

Just drive it home. Should take about 7 hrs. When combining corn I sit in that thing 15 hrs. a day. Don't think nothing of it.

I was thinking about that. What is it's top speed in road gear? Also how much gas would it burn through driving 100 miles?

Thanks

I forgot to add I ran a JD 95 some open station,, the thing I really did not like was the poor rear vision,, I guess its what you are used to,, I can run either style,, the center cab does nothing for me though really,, I also cut a lot of acres with the header right on the ground doing alfalfa seed and at higher speeds,, but I have always used big equipment also so I guess maybe thats why it does not bother me as much,,
