Hello everyone. I'm new to the site and was hoping ya'll might be able to help me out. I bought a 1961 model 40 combine a couple of summers ago up in PA. Not a bad little machine, I've cut some rice with it the last two years at a local threshers reunion and had fun with it. Unfortunately the header is in pretty rough shape. The platform sags downward on both sides putting a "bow" in the sickle bar. Inevitably the sickle bar broke at the end of last years threshing. I'm considering reconditioning the entire header but it really looks like its taken quite a beating over the years and I'm wondering if I could find another one in better condition. I'm in south Louisiana and we still have some 55s, 95s and even a few 45s but I've never seen a model 40 down in these parts so I count on having to travel for it.
