Anyone have a JD 4420 Combine?

Yes I have one here that you can come look at. It?s John
Deere 4420 it?s not mine but it sits here and I run the farm so I
can?t see why you couldn?t come measure the Yonkers I?m in
central Ohio
 
I can give you the extended measurement from my 4420. I will try to get it for you tomorrow.
Would have to get it out of the shed to get the retracted measurement. Al
 
I took a couple of measurements for you today. The extended length from bolt to bolt is about 117.5 inches. The retracted length is about 67 inches. I couldn't retract the cylinder because the combine is in the shed, but it appears the length of the stroke is approximately 50.5 inches. Hope this helps. Al

Al, thanks so much, this was exactly what I was looking for. Does your cylinder pull the auger around good, or not so much like on some of the 00 combines?
 
It seems to work very well on my 4420. I usually just put the auger up after the 1st hopper is filled and then leave it up until I am done for the day. It doesn't go up or down real fast, but sure works better than the manual swing on a 4400. I was not aware they used a cylinder swing out auger on the "00" models. Al
 

Some of those had a helper cylinder as I recall. It would get the auger about 85% of the way, then you could go out on the platform and grab the support rod and pull it up and latch it.

What I'm trying to do is find a way to put a cylinder on my 105 auger. I did some measurements and I think they 4420 cylinder is going to be too long. But I came up with another idea that I want to try so I'm hopeful I can pull it off.
