Adding Header Control to JD105

Just wondering if anyone has done this before or if it is even possible. I'm looking at a 220 flex header for my 105 coming up in and auction soon and the head has the sensors under it and electric for header control hookup.

Someone told me that header control first came out on the 00 series combines but I don't recall seeing it until the 20 series. At any rate is it possible to strip the header control parts off a salvage machine and add them to my 105?

I have been doing research on the same project to add header height control to my 95. I have been told you can add the original header height off a hundred series combine (my plans) or even dial-a-matic. The dial-a-matic is lots more wiring. I bought an operates manual off Ebay that really tells me nothing. Last week there was a service text book for one that I bought from ebay but it is not here yet.I do not do facebook but someone told me there is a 105 in southern Il that the owner has added it to.There is a clasic combine group? JD Seller answered my post on here a few months ago with some info as he added it to a 95. I bought a good 213 flex and want to have it going by fall. I called my combine parts yard (Bowie equipment in Tipton IA) but he is getting older and is closed untill the end of march. He has 150+ hendred series parts machines and if you go take the parts off is very reasonable. He also has 25 or more 5 series machines for parts. I have been running a M&W robot header height control on a Hiniker floating bar head and it works ok but the head is just wore out.Post back as you learn more and if needed I could copy the book I just bought when it gets here. Feel free to give me a call some evening 608-623-2851. Tom

My 105 had electric header control but I forget the brand name. It worked OK for that era. The header control was already on the combine when I got it. Roper made a header control that used a mechanical cable coming up from the feelers under the head. The upper end of the cable was hooked to a spool valve.

Interesting for sure. Does anyone know what kind of valve is on say a 6600 or 7700 machine. I assume it's electric over hydraulic but is it an additional valve other than the primary lift valve? If I could access the older parts program I would have looked already.

The header control valve on my 105 was a separate valve. I never did pay much attention to how it was plumbed in.
