JD 4435 combine

Made in Germany more along the design of the JD European combines. That could be good or bad. Mostly bad from what I've heard because of parts and electrical issues. I however have no first hand experience.

As others say, from what I hear they are wonderful when they are working and a money pit nightmare when not working. At their age, it gets scary even if in great shape, electrical issues have to be looming.

They did a really good job but where much heavier then the US built combines of the same size. Friend had one that he traded off 15 years ago because of parts prices and availability then. I would skip buying one. Look for a JD 6620 or JD 4420 if you want a smaller machine.

Island Green, I have a 4435Hy with rear wheel assist. It has served me well. Parts are outrageous if they still are serviced.
If you see this might ask where the machine is located, I am looking to pick up a parts machine. Some very critical parts are no longer available. Thanks Tom

neighbor has one it was made in Germany there is where the problem lies it has metric shafts, bearing, chains, ect.it is a well built machine but almost no parts support from deere their answer is we can get the parts in three or four days???? and at what price???? if you have access to the metric parts in your area at a reasonable cost and you are able to fabricate the sheet metal wear parts it might be a machine you could use, the regular jd heads will fit, neighbor runs a 4r corn and 15' flex on his it will handle larger capacity wise.

Thanks Island, and MTF. Eastern Canada a little far. The machine in Kentucky has within 20 hours of mine so unless it idled a lot is due for about 7000.00 dollars worth of repair. He better hope whoever buys at that price is clueless. Tom

What combines have you worked on that makes you think a 6620 is easy to work on? Never seen so many stacked v belts. Maybe compared to a Massey.LOL Tom

Sounds like that could be the successor to the 4425 ? I worked at Deere when the 4425 came out. IIRC those were from Germany too. The 4425 models were nothing but trouble ! Same thing when I worked at the GM car dealer. The German made Cadillac Catera was nothing but problems too !

There is two or three of them for sale in my area at a good price. A salvage yard has a 4425 parting out.Hard to get a 6620,7720, in my area in good condition .There is some in central and western Canada but freight makes them expensive. Thanks for all replies Lloyd

A friend of mine sold his last year.He really liked the machine but was worried about getting parts. He said a few years ago the dealer told him that less and less parts were being stocked in the warehouses. That helped him to make the deal on a larger machine.
