1935 case pull combine?

Looking for info on old machine that a neighbor has offered me. Hillside model V is what he thought it was, 1935. Having trouble finding any info, has a Waukesha engine and a 12 foot header. Was originally a sack machine but had a bulk tank added. The 150 years of J. I. case book looks like the model V might not have started until 1940? Where would a tag or number be located on a combine from this era? Will try to get some pictures later. Thanks, Mike

Mike, I have two brochures on the Model V. The earlier one is dated 1935, the later 1939.
The biggest difference I see is the engine. The earlier has a round gas tank and the radiator is on the same side as the unload auger. The later has a square gas tank and the radiator is on the same side as the header.

Unlike other Case combines at the time, these only had two wheels with the weight of the hitch on the tractor. Unless it was pulled with horses, then it had a front swivel wheel with a drivers seat to handle the horses. The drivers seat would rotate with the wheel and the pole to follow the horses. They could be set up as a bagger or a grain tank either way.

I can't answer to the location of the tag. I didn't see any tags in the pictures but on machines of that vintage, they were pretty large and easy to find unless it's been removed. Most likely it's riveted to the lower frame somewhere likely on the grain tank side. I'll post some pics from my phone later.

I hope you get it bought and saved regardless the condition. I'd think not many made and very few survivors.

Amazing pics, probably all within 50-60 miles from me here in the Palouse hills of E. Washington. Thanks for posting, I will try to look them over better as soon as winter backs off for a few days. Thanks, Mike.

Mike, you still lurking here? I came across another Model V brochure. Let me know if you'd be interested in it.
