the 302 was a SP series hillside and not the Harris model you are talking about Dan, I have not found what little info I have on it yet

Yea, I thought I had something on them too, but cannot find anything yet.

It will help Tom, I haven't been able to find anything in my stuff. Thank you

Can't put my hands on the 302 book or the 434 fertilizer book for Jon...some stuff got put in a box in the garage. 302 I think was built by Case before they decided to go with Harris

I guess Harris (had nothing to do with Massey Harris) was a well respected sidehill combine mfg maybe still is,, I do not know if any part of the one I posted below has any CASE parts in it at all. They had sold a good number of 302 Case sidehills so I guess they wanted to keep sales going with out spending the development money for a new Case built model, The pic came from 1964 lit, so after 302 production had stopped,, but before 1060 production started in 1966, I bring up the 1060 as a Big Case combine dealer in MT spoke of checking on a hill-side 1060 for a customer at some point, I do not have hard dates on 301 and 302 production but it would be 1957 for a start date I am guessing as the 150 came then and both used the Racine 400 series engines, I am betting production continued after 1958 when the 150 eased to be and the the 800 replaced it in 1959, I hope this makes some things more clear, I also read in the lit there are upgrades to the machine that year, so maybe they offered it in 193 or before also

Hey Dan, I've got some neat pictures here from a brochure dated 1961.
Dang if I know whats changed here on YT but I haven't been able to post pictures anymore.
If someone can explain the new "procedure" for posting pictures, I'd sure appreciate it.
Can't even post pics from my phone anymore, let alone the laptop.

Do not use the old "select galley photo" button use the upload photos/video button below that, use it just like before after selecting your pic it will say being upload or upload continuing wait till it says file uploaded,, you can load multiple pics now but they have to be under a certain size, like 9 mb I hope I said that right, if loading more pics and they will not load you can go to preview then return and load more again, I was hoping you would see this post

The old way, I have an indicator at the bottom of my screen that counts down (sort of).
The new way there is nothing to tell me its uploading. I must not be waiting long enough.
I tried preview for a look, but when I go back, the pictures are gone.
Again, I must not be waiting long enough for the upload.
I'll try on the test forum later and some back here if I'm successful.
Thanks Tom.

Bradly,, do you happen to have a parts book for this model? I see they still list the ops and parts for this model I will be ordering them

Ok Tom, this should be good stuff for him, he wanted pictures if possible, and also a wealth of information on the CaseHarris. Thank you Tom

Thanks for posting Bradley, I did keep copies,, I haver the parts and ops ordered for this,, I was wanting to know more about how it worked,, this also Helps a Ton I am betting there is one thing in that machine that is 100% Case and thats the spike teeth and maybe the whole cylinder, Case sold them to several other brands

I had this pic of a Harris, but it appears that this machine might have been after the "divorce" between Case and Harris, I cant remember as I didn't mark this machine, but this could be my friends, he bought out on the west coast

Thank you Brad, for the good information. We can really see the 2 brand names now on the machines

What you can also see is how the operator basically sits right on the engine. I can't imagine the heat, noise and vibration going on there on a 100 degree day of harvest. At least they put the hot muffler out on the unload auger.
Notice the third brake pedal?
Extra height gives more leverage on the turning brakes for stopping.

I bought a MM model "S" combine at a sale about 15 miles from my place,, drove it home one Cold spring day,, the engine sits about chest level or so with the fan blowing hot air from the radiator and blows that across the engine right on to the operator,, I cant even think what it was like on a 110 day here to run

Hello All,

Thanks Ande and the rest of the contributors for proof that this combine was offered for sale in the Case catalogs of the day. I am a co-owner of this machine and it is displayed at Rollag, Minnesota each Labor Day weekend. The parade spectators refer to it as the "tipping combine" as we manually operate the leveling cylinders during the parade (video found on youtube with a search of "rollag hillside"). The snapshot photo of the Harris in these postings is a picture of this combine, while it was still in Creston, Washington.
I had stopped in and visited with Ande a few months ago to pick his brain as he is the resident Case History & Machine expert in these parts! Since Case is the featured brand in Rollag for 2019 I have asked if it could sit on the hill with the rest of the Case's. We do not know the earliest history of this machine as the family bought it used when it was a couple of years old. It left the factory in California as Case orange and was repainted/re-decal back to Harris red (except for the inside of the hopper and before my family had bought it). In several places the Harris red is pealing, exposing the factory Case orange color too. It has the gas engine and was last used in the field the year after Mount St. Helen's eruption. I have the owners manual and parts book for this machine and have visited with the last known dealer in Palmeroy WA. We have not thrashed with it at the show as I am just to busy to get all the parts moving again, but it is doable. Thanks again all!

Keith,

Glad to help, but it was all my friends here that did the most. But we are glad to help. And you are welcome my friend.

Yes I do agree, man they were not thinking of the operator at all. I cant imagine.
