Anybody rebuild gear box on flex head

On a 924 flex head at idle and half throttle the head is smooth, but once you put it wide open throttle the head really shakes. So today I pulled the gear box off my old 216 flex head and put that on the 924. I haven't had a chance to try it to see if that fixed the problem, but I know that gear box is good because the 216 head runs really smooth, I think that gear box was redone once.
How hard is it to rebuild the gearbox? What normally goes bad in there? And what does a normal rebuild cost?
Thanks!

They are not hard to rebuild. They just have bearing and a wobble shaft. The bearings on it are tapper roller bearing nd you set them like a wheel bearing. The the cross yoke that drives the knife arms has needle bearing that run on pins that go into the wobble bearing holder.

Here is picture of the knife gear case. It is not that hard to work on and if it is just bearings it will be a cheap repair.

Your 924 should have had a counter weight drive arm and the 200 series does not. I thought the mountings was a little different. Did you have any problems??

Yes the mounting plate and arm is different. I took the plate and arm off the 924 gear case and put it on the 216 gear case. And it bolted right on.
