Am I crazy? Apparently so.

You might have saw an Am I Crazy? thread awhile ago. If you did, yes I went and did it, and purchased an IH 80 pt combine having never even seen a combine operate before. Its coming home next weekend, and I have some oats that should be ready for it soon. Apparently it is already set up for oats, and did 3 acres the last few years.

So, as promised, its not even home yet and I have some dumb questions for you folks.
- The belt to run the auger out of the bin is missing. I purchased the manual, but can't seem to find the size for it. Anybody know offhand what it is?
- I have double acting hydraulic on the tractor, but the piston to lift the head is set up for single acting. I assume I will need to add a return line.
- We alwats cut the oats in the 'milk' stage and fed it like hay. Cows ate the grain, and the straw got thrown in for bedding when they were done. Is determining when to cut oats for 'oats' as simple as the seed is hard, or is there more to it?

Thanks for any help, and wish me luck!!! I'll try attaching a pic - If you think I've madea terrible mistake after seeing it, please don't tell my wife. I got it for $400, and if I get a couple years out of it I'll be happy.

Boy are you gonna have some fun. Oats are great to learn on. Don't know much about those combines. All i can say is get a manual and USE it . I only do 6 acres a year and have a ball. You will get hooked like the rest of us then its all down hill.

You can bet that belt part number from your local IH dealer. DONT BUY IT FROM THEM THOUGH. You can save a ton of money by going through a place in east Cleveland Ohio named JDV belts or something like that

You can run a single acting cylinder on a tractor with double acting system. Just plug the single hose in- it"s power up, gravity down. Some mfr recommend only a certain side of the two way being used for one way. Check your op manual.

Glad to here you sealed the deal. You'll have the time of your life if you have the chance to harvest some grain of your own. Just a great feeling sowing your own and watching it mature and than harvesting. Still would like to see some pictures of the beast...

Happy Harvesting

Second attempt at adding pictres .. sorry if this doesn't work. By the way, is adding a photo really this hard? What am I missing?
I'll add some better pics when it gets home this weekend.
