update on progress, the grain loss monitor is connected with the pacer meter, this meter is supposed to give the operator an idea about how effecient they are running the combine. I cannot figure out how this all is connected together. anyway, I do have a problem with the combine weaving on the road, [i do not drink] all tierods and such are tight, my brother followed me and he thinks the csteering cylinder just seems to "move" when it wants--could there be an internal leak in the steering cyl.? thanks, ray

Foothill, did you get an operators manual with that machine? If so it should give you a setup procedure for the Pacer and that is the name I couldn't remember on a previous post you had but anyway the manual covers the tuning of the Pacer. I will tell you that the N series had a tendency to wonder all over on the steering especially on the RWA at higher speeds if RWA was off because the road speed was close to 19mph and the hydrostatic steering had a slow respone so you had to constantly over correct the steering wheel I finally just pulled the Hydro stick back to about 15mph and it smoothed out we reported this to Gleaner and they said they were working on that so I'm hoping the R series corrected it. If its RWA just slow down or flip it to RWA and that will limit the speed on its own. I'm thinking the problem was in the steering valve we were on our second one and it had a lot of free steering wheel travel. The one on the farm was a 1980 and the one at the dealership was an 81 its steering seemed to be a lot tighter. I'm thinking the steering valve may be the problem at the steering wheel in the console.

856, you've got that right my little son at that time some 25 years ago used to laugh at me when we went on the road after taking off the head and moving to the next field I used to turn my ballcap on backwards like the movie "Everyway but loose" and let her go we would get to about 19mph and I had to pull the hydro back because those 30.5s would bounce so bad he would bounce up and down like a basketball he thought it was funny I just was afraid he'd injure his spleen and mine too you would have thought he was on a thrill ride he's now 31 and still talks about it.

Jack both rear tires off ground. check toe in. steering should be tight with both tires off ground
