The total yesterday was 12660 lbs of beans. I took a self imposed hit on the moisture of 10.7 and 10.4%. Oh well. The Gleaner worked good and I found some worn stuff on her that will need to be fixed for next year but I can"t complain. She gave her all for me today. Got a movie too that I will post on youtube later this week after I edit out all the bad words. HAHA, not really. The guys at the elevater got a chuckle. Said it"s been a long time since anyone brought it thier beans in a gravity wagon. I said "hey it"s paid for". Here are some pictures:

is that a wd or wd-45 on corn planter? how many acres do you have? we have a 30 mini farm 10 acres in grass 20 acres rented out. we have 15 head of registered highland cattle. cows calves heifers and bull. i hope next year is last to rent ground out. i would put the 20 in continuous corn and run the cows and calves on it after corn is off. i want to get to 10 cows and sell 8 to 10 calves every year.

I am just north of the Kansas City airport. Yes all my equipment to plant and harvest comes to a wopping $2000. This first crop paid for it all. Next year it's just gas and sweat. Some people think it's funny that I hobby farm. I ask them how many hobbys do they know of that pays for it self and then some.

Craig
I do agree,a win win,and you enjoy what your doing.Tell me,do you get alot of berry pickers that come out? Is the income from all of what you do fairly even, meaning each donates about the same to the bottom line?

Those pics sure bring back some old memories. Not all of them good! The first self propelled combine I had was a used Gleaner E. I remember one time combining some weedy oats with it for my neighbor. I had to get out and manually "assist" the unload auger pulley to get it started turning, on nearly every bin full. Grab the pulley spokes and start turning, until it would pick up the load! Cut enough of those oats to fill a semi though. I bought a JD 3300 to replace the old E. I thought I'd died and gone to heaven! Not that the old E was really bad, it was just that the 3300 was enough newer to be much more operator friendly. It even had power steering and the bin would always unload without manual assistance! Thanks for the pics.

Did that too for a couple bin fulls on my old E then I adjusted the belt and it never again failed me. Could be that or your belt was just too worn. A neighbor lost his thumb doing just that.

driving my semi on the far eastern part of the state i saw farmer after farmer pulling in huge wagons with pickups to local elevators. Not all of them old farmers either. Dont let trying to get on magazine covers bankrupt you. These guys built up these operations to where the sons or employees now can use semis. While the help and young kids may want fancy and shiny to impress their buddies, what pays the bills doesnt care about how it is planted or harvested of what kind of trough it eats out of.

Beautiful pics-like the planting pics too. Nothing wrong with those gravity wagons, I used them for a few years. Now sometimes I even think it is funny when I bring in my old straight trucks while everyone else is running tandems and mostly semi's. Like you said-paid for and gets the job done-and no $1,500 license plate required.
