I have a 18 hp montgomery ward garden tractor model gil 33489A.

Who made this tractor and where can I get parts?
 
Tractor made by gilson,check your local yellow pages for a lawn boy dealer,lawn boy bought gilson,later toro bought lawn boy,I'm told toro supports gilson thru their lawn boy dealers,local dealer may be able to help you
 
I have the Model Gil 33048. Bought it new in 1971. Engine parts are still available, but other parts may be scarce. Hal

Is not TORO part of MTD now? MTD barely support the equipment they built 4 years ago. Finding part from them for something this old will be iffy at best. I worked on a local guys Bolen Hydrostatic rider last year. Need a new engine to trans belt. I got one I though. It turned out that Bolens had two Hydro tractor that the only difference the model number was an A suffix. The difference in the tractors was the transmission. MTD in the buy-out of Bolen thought the tractors were the same. They had NO info on the model without the A suffix and they used differing engine to trans belts. I just love MTD wink, wink.

Here's a quick tip on Montgomery Wards riders:

Numbers begin with TMO it's made by MTD, GIL stands for Gilson.

Pretty much all of the 60's, 70's, and 80's light-duty was made by MTD.

Monkey wards tractors in the 60's were made by simplicity, I owned 2 different ones during that time. landlord and a broadmoor.
