Old lawn chief - working - need blade removal info

I managed to get the old Lawn Chief running - had to replace seized idler pulley, put on new belt, clean everything up and now runs fine.

I would like to remove the blade to clean and sharpen....does anyone know if the blade retaining bolt comes out clockwise or anti-clockwise? I dont want to force it the wrong way.

It needs to be loosen by turning it counter clock wise. Make sure you pull the plug wire off when removing the blade & reinstalling it. Hal
PS: Use a 6 point socket if you have one so you don't round off the head on the cap screw.

Thank you! I hit it with some release spray yesterday so hopefully that will help - it is pretty rusty.

If you have an impact wrench use it to loosen and make sure your impact is turning CCW. I would tighten it by hand when reinstalling the blade. I have an old Toro GrassKing that has a left hand nut that keeps the blade on. It has a 31-inch blade
and acts likes a flywheel once it starts spinning.
I use my garden tractor to start it since it has a rope start. Hal
