More questions about my Wards 2 wheel garden tractor, engine

Local machanic says it was built tween 40 and 50. It needs a carb kit. Ma chanic says they arent any longer available. Its a Zeneth, and has the numbers B 1-289 on the elbow going to the oil bath. Is there a carb kit available, and if so where. Is a newer carb available that would mount on the engine? And if so where. The engine is a 4.5hp. He was wanting to sell me a 14hp engine to replace it.

Sounds like a Bendix Zenith Carb. Similar to one used on model L Gravelys. Try Gravely resources like Richard's Lawn and Garden or Antram Enterprizes for a carb kit. A cast iron carb body was once offered, later replaced by Aluminum Bendix.
