Got a 1984 Gravely 8123 that I have owned since new. Recently it started to have a fuel starvation problem when it the motor gets hot. :?: It has a Kohler K301, which has been rebuilt once, has a new fuel tank (plastic), new fuel line, and a new fuel pump. When it first started to do this, I figured the original pump was finished, so I got a new one. Seemed to make a difference for a few days, then started again. When it quits, I pull the riser hose from the pump to the carb, and each time there is no fuel. I can crank the engine, and no fuel comes out, so pump is not working. If I pull the hose on the inlet side of the pump, there's fuel. So I'm pretty convinced it's is pump related.
Anyone know why the pump would quit when it gets hot, then work fine when it cools? The motor is getting ready for another rebuild (compression getting low), and it does run a little hot, but why would this cause the fuel pump to quit, and is there a temp solution?
Thanks.
Dave.
