Kohler ID by serial number?

I'm trying to find out info on a Kohler engine. I was told it's a 14 horse, but at some point in the past, the ID tag was painted over, and then some jerk apparently tried to remove the paint with a grinder of some sort. The only number I can read is the serial number, which appears to be 777143.

Can anyone help me ID this motor? I need to order a rebuild/ring kit for it in the near future.

Thanks!

This is the only picture I have on hand... any ideas?

So I went out and looked some more, and tried to clean up the ID tag. Here's what I can read:

The first line has the following characters stamped into it:
S 777143

Then there's a second line which reads:
462 15A

Any thoughts?
Thanks!

Is this on a Wheel Horse? If it is, it could be a K241 (10hp), with the 46215A Spec number.

No, it's actually on a Speedex 1430, but I think you're right on the K241 idea. I just found out some info online that points to the same conclusion.

Well, maybe the tractor doesn't have quite the horsepower I thought it did, but I still love the old tank.

Any ideas as to where I can find a complete rebuild kit for this motor?

Thanks!

any Kohler dealer can get you one, I have used some aftermarket ones whit good luck, but some on here have not had such good luck with non-oem pistons and such. I would pull the head and check the bore, though. If it is a Speedex 1430, should be a K321, 14hp engine.
