I was finally able to start my 318 today. It was firing on one cylinder at first. I think it was firing on both cylinders when I revved it up but I'm not sure. What is the best brand of spark plugs to use? The tractor serial number is M00318X480143. I don't know if the engine is the original one. It shows about 650 hours on the hour meter but I don't know if it is working. I'm sure that they have been hard hours judging by the worn out tines on the tiller that came with it.
This tractor has a #44 front end loader on it. When I engage the front PTO to run the hydraulic pump for the loader the engine dies. It doesn't stop immediately like the pump is locked up. I don't know yet if the pump may be locked up but the clutch is slipping or if it is killing the engine spark. I don't hear any noises or squealing. Also how do I get the grill out of it so I can access the pulleys behind it?
